In the pre-digital age, theaters would play movies from reels (how quaint) and would have to rewind between showings. The film was fed through a projector with little square cuttings that neatly fit the sprockets of the projector, so the film was subjected to extreme heat from the bulb that projected the image, and a constant pull of mechanical teeth to move it through the projector. The result of all this was that film would break, and not in the most convenient of moments. Continue reading
